Accounting that understands contingency-fee economics.
Your revenue arrives in lumps, your costs walk out the door months before fees walk in, and your trust account is a license-level liability. We build monthly financials β and IOLTA compliance β around exactly that reality.

IOLTA accounting is where we start β because it's where firms get hurt.
Trust account errors are among the most common paths to bar discipline, and almost all of them are bookkeeping failures, not theft. Our monthly process removes the risk.
Three-Way Reconciliation
Every month we reconcile your bank statement, book balance, and individual client ledgers to the penny β the exact standard bar auditors apply.
Client Ledger Maintenance
Per-client, per-matter ledgers with a full trail of deposits, disbursements, lien payments, and fee transfers.
Cleanup & Catch-Up
Behind on reconciliations? Inherited a messy trust account? We rebuild it quietly and correctly before it becomes a problem.
What your firm gets every month.
Financials & Bookkeeping
- Full monthly close: P&L, balance sheet, cash flow
- Case-cost tracking by matter (advanced vs. recovered)
- Referral-fee and co-counsel split accounting
- Payroll coordination and partner draw tracking
Intelligence & Strategy
- Marketing ROI: cost per lead, per signed case, per channel
- Settlement pipeline & cash-flow forecasting
- Quarterly tax projections β no April surprises
- Entity & compensation structure reviews
Contingency fees create contingency-sized tax problems.
Case Cost Timing
Advanced client costs are generally loans, not deductions β until the case resolves. We track and time them correctly so deductions land where they should.
Big-Fee Years
A $2M fee year taxed carelessly is a disaster. We plan for spikes with retirement structures, entity elections, and income timing.
Multi-State Cases
Working cases in Florida, Texas, or California from Georgia? We handle the state filing footprint your caseload creates.
Frequently asked questions.
Who reconciles IOLTA accounts β the attorney or an accountant?
The attorney is always responsible to the bar, but the monthly three-way reconciliation work is best performed by an accountant who specializes in trust accounting. We perform the reconciliation, maintain client ledgers, and deliver documentation that satisfies bar audit standards β you review and sign off.
How often should a PI firm reconcile its trust account?
Monthly, without exception. Most state bars expect at least monthly three-way reconciliation (bank, book, and client ledgers), and any gap makes errors compound and cleanup harder.
Are case costs tax deductible when I advance them?
Generally no β advanced client costs are typically treated as loans to the client, deductible only when the case resolves and the cost is unrecoverable. Timing this correctly is one of the most common issues we fix for new attorney clients.
Can you clean up years of unreconciled trust activity?
Yes. Trust cleanup and catch-up work is one of our most common onboarding projects. We rebuild the history quietly, correctly, and confidentially.
What does a monthly financial package for a law firm include?
A full monthly close (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow), IOLTA three-way reconciliation, case-cost schedules by matter, marketing cost-per-signed-case reporting, and quarterly tax projections β see our Monthly Packages page for tiers.
Do you work with firms outside Georgia?
Yes β we serve firms in Florida, Texas, California, New York, and nationwide, fully remotely, with the same monthly rhythm.
How do you handle referral fees and co-counsel splits?
We account for fee splits at the matter level, track co-counsel payables and receivables, and make sure the tax reporting on both sides is clean.
Can you help my firm get a line of credit?
Yes β we prepare lender-ready financial packages, and we work directly with bankers on your behalf. Clients have raised millions using financials and business plans we prepared.
